The Bioscience & Technology Business Center has assisted over 40 early-stage technology companies in a wide variety of areas ranging from market feasibility and raising capital to business plan development and strategic planning. Over the past seven years, its clients have raised more than $180 million in investment capital and created over 100 net new jobs with an average salary twice that of the local private sector wage.

The BTBC is different from other incubators.

Lilly Inks Multimillion-Dollar Deal for Deciphera’s Preclinical Oncology Program
Eli Lilly licensed Deciphera Pharmaceuticals’ preclinical B-Raf kinase inhibitor program in oncology therapeutics in a deal worth $520 million in milestone payments. Deciphera will receive an upfront payment and research funding for two years in exchange for giving Lilly worldwide rights to any drug developed from this collaboration.
The agreement covers four project areas involving selective or multikinase targeted B-Raf inhibitors. Deciphera, which will use its phylomechanics discovery platform, stands to earn up to $130 million per program in development, regulatory, and sales milestones. If a product is commercialized, Deciphera will also be entitled to royalties….

Novartis Options Proteon Therapeutics for $550M

Proteon Therapeutics has more than $550 million riding on its mid-stage trial of its blood-vessel dilating therapy. That’s how much Novartis has agreed to pay for the company–in an upfront payment and milestones–provided the trial ends successfully. And Proteon got more good news with the announcement that MPM Capital has led a $38 million investment round for the company, which will fund the company through that Phase II milestone.

The Series B financing includes new investors, the MPM Bio IV NMS Strategic Fund L.P.  and the Vectis Healthcare & Life Sciences Fund, along with existing investors TVM Capital, Skyline Ventures, Prism VentureWorks, Intersouth Partners and several of Proteon’s original angel investors.
